-A Rider's Life-

-A Rider's Life-
So0 not easy.. Especially when raining, you’re going to be soaking wet or even when the sun is at its highest it will feel like all your body fluid is being sucked up. I should know, my boyfriend is living one and I'm part of it too. I do not like it more than he does. We all know what riding a motorcycle does to its owners. It’s all over the news everyday.  Not because I don’t have a choice because I do (always) and I know that. It's just that I’m beginning to hate commuting alone. Or I guess I’m just as hard headed as Jade is.
But living one made me a keen observer on the road (I think) though I don’t know how to drive.  Based from what I can tell, there’s like three types of riders.
The first group belongs to the “show offs” or just adrenaline addicts. These people tend to do atleast 60+ kph on the road. I’m not here to judge, but they make it look like they don’t care if they can still reach their destination or would want to be part of the news at night or again just showing off.  And they have this annoyingly very loud sound of their already customized engine (which I don’t get).  I don’t have to tell they are very prone to accidents. I hope these riders care for their family enough to change their driving style while it’s not yet too late.
The second group belongs to the “beginners”. I rarely see them in national highways like EDSA or Mindanao Ave. They most likely take alternate route instead. But whenever I see one, I tell Jade “unahan mo na yan”, cause heir prone to accidents too. For an experience rider you would be able to tell if one will overtake or will make a left or a right. But these riders are not experienced enough to make fast decisions and firm choices. They’re always unsure, and in the end, if you read them incorrectly it will cause you both. I don’t want that. No one wants that.
The third group belongs to “service rides”. This is actually us. This is the reason why he bought one.  Gas charge will cost him less than half of what he will pay if he commutes. These riders are not in a hurry. You will see them in a lane. Not in between lanes (except in traffic).  But they’re still prone to accidents, because they’re still riding a motorcycle.
In three yrs of Jades life as a rider he already had three accidents too. Two of them are minor, it caused us some bruises. Praying before riding did save us. But one major, luckily I’m not part of. It was a hit and run in Mindanao Ave. It cost him three weeks of rest. No broken bone but major bruises. I hope it won’t happen again.
But in the road no matter how careful of a driver you are, there’s going to be one irresponsible driver out there ready to take you in his fall. So you have to be careful enough. Praying and asking guidance before leaving home can make a big difference too.  So let’s all be safe and take double precaution on the road not just for our own sake but our love ones too.
